  • Paint Horses with 12+ inches of continuous white markings in the qualifying area—viewable from a standing position—automatically earn Paynt Points Color Bonus payouts.

    • 12+ inches of continuous white markings
    • Located in the qualifying zone per RG-070 (above the center of the knees/hocks or behind a line on the face from the outside corner of the eye to the corner of the mouth and under the chin to the opposite corner of the mouth.)
    • Visible from a normal standing position of horse and human viewer

    This form allows you to notify APHA staff that your horse meets Color Bonus eligibility requirements. No fee is required. 

    Horses approved as Color Bonus Eligible will receive a logo stamp on their APHA registration certificate; a digital copy of the updated certificate will be provided to the current owner upon request. Only horses approved by APHA staff as Color Bonus Eligible by the last day of the applicable Paynt Points period (June 30 or December 31) are eligible to receive Color Bonus payouts.

  • Qualifying markings must be visible with the horse and the photographer in a normal standing position.  Eligible area for consideration is within the prescribed zone described in RG-070.A-D. 

    Markings in areas not visible from a standing position (midline, inner thigh, jaw, etc) do not qualify a horse for the Color Incentive Bonus. If a qualifying area starts on a part of the horse that can’t be seen from a standing position but extends to a visible area, only the visible portion will be considered for eligibility.
